- Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor
- Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist Certification
Over the past twenty years I have had the opportunity to work with many people struggling with addiction. The most effective addiction treatment plans take into consideration the persons unique characteristics and circumstances. In clinical practice I draw on my experience with a variety of treatment models and theoretical perspectives in order to address an individual’s unique needs.
These include, but are not limited to:
- cognitive behavioral therapy
- behavioral therapy
- expressive therapies
- motivational interviewing
- family therapy models
- psychodynamic models
- meditation and mindfulness
- pharmacotherapy
- 12 step approach
I have extensive experience supporting those with concurrent disorders.
Once someone decides to make a change in their life with respect to the use of substances, I can help them remain abstinent and move forward in their recovery. Apart from preventing a relapse to substance use, which I help people with through relapse prevention strategies, addiction treatment is also about improving the overall quality of one’s life and learning how to engage with their past, present and future in a healthy way.
